Mobile 3D wind measuring system

Full Scale Laser Wind Scanner: Design, construction and testing of a new laser-based remote sensing instrument for measurements of wind and turbulence in three dimensions around huge wind turbines.

The Danish node of the European mobile Research Infrastructure WindScanner.dk is hosted at DTU Wind Energy, Risø Campus, and is established to provide the Wind Energy research community and the wind industry with detailed wind and turbulence measurements from remote sensing based, synchronized scanning wind lidars. Installed on the ground the WindScanners measure the wind and turbulence fields in front and in the wakes of test turbines. For advanced turbine control, SpinnerLidars mounted in the turbines nacelle or hub, also detect upwind approaching wind gusts and negative strong wind shears before reaching the rotor plane.
